Less bloat, better plug-in management, faster site loading, and smarter security badges are the hallmarks of Opera 12, but the browser no longer feels as innovative as it once was.

The Summary of New features include:

Faster than ever

Opera 12 gets you online in record time, with improvements that mean faster startup and quick page loading. Thanks to responsive tab loading sequences, you can start up or shut down in the blink of an eye. Pages also load faster while you’re browsing.

Easy to personalize

Make Opera yours with a whole new set of themes. Design your own or use one of the options we have ready. Change the look of the browser as often as you want — all it takes is one click. You don’t even need to restart!

Put yourself in the picture

With Opera 12, your favorite sites can use your computer’s webcam to take photos from the browser. Set a new profile picture in your social network or just see what you look like with a moustache!

Redesigned security badges

Now, it is easier to see privacy and security settings on websites with color-coded security badges in the address bar.

New APIs

Opera will offer a more robust and powerful API for windows and tabs, allowing extensions to interact with tabs, create groups of tabs, or manage windows.

Right-to-left scripts support

Opera now speaks four new languages. Now that the UI supports right-to-left languages, users of Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Hebrew can enjoy Opera in their preferred language. Learn more.

New web standards support

We are also launching support for WebRTC, HTML5 Drag and Drop, CSS3 Animations and Transitions, Do-Not-Track and CSS Generated Content for Paged Media. This will provide richer functionality to web developers and an improved experience for end users. See a complete list of new standards supported.

Experimental hardware acceleration WebGL support

Opera will now be able to use your computer’s graphics card for extra processing power in the form of hardware acceleration. This supercharged boost makes intensive web applications and games run even better. Learn how to enable WebGL and hardware acceleration.

Discontinuing Opera Unite, Opera Widgets and Voice

With this release, Opera Unite and Opera Widgets are removed by default for new users. We encourage all developers to move their solutions to the extensions platform. Support for the legacy X+V standard and the UI voice commands has also been removed, as the voice-detection library is no longer supported by the third-party vendor.

Changelogs

We’ve made a lot of other improvements in this Opera version to enhance your time online. Get the whole story from our changelogs.

ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications access the video stream without conflict.

ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more. Once you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when activate your Webcam through that program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the background with flames.

There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, but other than that ManyCam is worthy of a Webcam Oscar for cool and useful tech.

ManyCam 3.0 brief new feature list:
•ManyCam Studio Pro turns ManyCam into a Pro video switcher with transitions and more!
•The new Audio tab allows you to broadcast Pro audio and add awesome sound effects.
•HD Video Support and Broadcasting
•Record video and audio to your hard drive.
•Frames per second performance increases.
•Picture in Picture is now resizable along with the ability to add 4 sources.
•Awesome new video and audio effects!

With the latest version of Firefox out, User Account Control pop-ups will become less frequent on Windows, and tools for Web developers get some long-overdue TLC.
Mozilla has updated Firefox to version 12 on tuesday, completing a cycle of changes to how the program updates and bringing some serious elbow-grease to its developer tools.

You still have to approve the User Account Control (UAC) the first time you install Firefox, but for all subsequent versions, it will automatically update without your approval. This is the same update procedure that Google Chrome has been using on Windows for more than a year with few if any known negative consequences.

You can download Firefox 12 for
Windows

Besides cutting down on your interaction with the update process, one potential benefit of automatic updates is that if Mozilla must release a security patch, the browser's security will not be dependent on your interaction.

This follows changes made in January's Firefox release, which marked about 80 percent of add-ons as compatible by default. Doing so prevented most add-ons from slowing down the browser update process, and it also more closely emulates the mobile app update process.

Developer tools have received a lot of attention in Firefox 12. Following the new ones such as Tilt in the last release, Firefox 12 has made more than 85 improvements to its dev tools. These include fixes and improvements made to the Style Inspector, Web Console, Page Inspector, HTML View, Page Inspector 3D View, Style Editor, and Scratchpad. HTML5 media player controls have also gotten a visual refresh.
